Joanna Hathaway, AMFT

Joanna Hathaway is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT # 140999) working with individuals, couples, and families. Using an integrative approach, Joanna helps clients access their unique strengths and abilities to cope with difficult experiences and create meaningful change. Joanna practices in our San Francisco and Mill Valley locations, and offers online sessions via Zoom to California residents.

Joanna is formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Gottman Couples Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Her work is also inspired by Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Joanna has dedicated much of her career in the health and wellness field, previously working as a nutritionist, a personal trainer, curriculum writer, and university educator. In her work at Kaiser Permanente, she helps cancer patients cope with the physical and emotional aftermath of medical trauma. She has also served many Bay Area organizations supporting cancer patients, including the Zen Hospice Center, Bright Spot Network, To Celebrate Life, and Zero Breast Cancer.
