Molly Murtaugh, AMFT

Molly (she/her) is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT # pending) working with individuals, couples and families at Headlands’ San Francisco and Mill Valley offices as well as via Zoom for California residents. Molly believes that therapy is a deeply collaborative process built on mutual trust, curiosity and care. She partners with her clients to co-create an open, affirming, safe space for clients to deepen into self-discovery and self-compassion.

Molly draws from an integrative, trauma-informed approach that includes parts work, Narrative Therapy, EMDR Therapy and mindfulness. She has experience supporting clients with trauma, anxiety, grief, life transitions and complex relationship dynamics, and she aligns her approach to the individual needs of her clients. As a queer-identifying therapist, Molly has a deep commitment to and specialization in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.

Molly transitioned into the mental health field after a 15-year career in the tech industry, driven by a strong desire to connect more deeply with the human experience. Prior to joining Headlands, she worked at the Marina Counseling Center providing individual therapy to adults. These experiences have helped her understand how individuals interact with- and are shaped by- the systems around them, and the courage and vulnerability it takes to live in alignment with one’s authentic self.
