Anoush Alexanian, LMFT

Anoush (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 141240) who works with individuals and couples in our San Francisco office and via Telehealth. Her work with clients focuses on depth and insight, cultivating tools for clients to help create the changes they wish to see in their lives.

In her work with individuals, she helps people to examine repeating patterns in their lives and repair the internal dynamics at play. She draws primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, and somatic-informed theories such as Hakomi for a body-centered approach to therapy.

In her work with couples, she helps partners find their way out of distress and back towards safety and connection. She practices PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) techniques, which incorporate research findings in neuroscience, emotional attachment, and arousal regulation, and which can reduce the overall time couples spend in therapy.

Anoush was born in Armenia and lived in several countries before immigrating to the U.S. She enjoys working with clients navigating a bi-cultural or multi-heritage experience and brings a culturally informed lens to her work. Prior to joining the Headlands team at the beginning of 2021, Anoush practiced at Haight Ashbury Psychological Services, a low-fee nonprofit serving adults and couples in San Francisco. She has also served as a volunteer crisis counselor for Crisis Support Services of Alameda County. She is fluent in English and Armenian, and proficient in German and Russian.
